Cerritos Colleges goes for the record on Sunday: 5 state championships in a row



For the fifth year in a row, the Cerritos College women’s soccer team has advanced to the CCCAA State Championship game. The Falcons (22-1-1) posted a 3-2 win over Folsom Lake College (17-4-4) last Friday and are one win away from their fifth consecutive state title and seventh in school history.

The state championship game will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Ventura Sports Complex. Cerritos will face Diablo Valley College.

The post-season win was the 24th in a row by Cerritos (23-0-1) and are one win away from setting a new state record for most consecutive championships (5). They currently hold the mark along with Long Beach City College, who won four in a row from 2000-03. Marshall HS) and Amber Whitmore (Los Alamitos HS).
